We caught up with the busy production manager Tony Puronranta, over at the Finnish service bureau RP-CASE. They installed the CCP-2 in September 2023 to support their growing volumes. Their current setup is three SLS machines, as well as SLA and FDM.

Hey Tony! Before you invested in our post-processing, what were the biggest challenges you faced in your production?

“We have always produced a lot and basically had one guy manually blasting parts all day long. Not only did that affect our delivery times, because if he called in sick, then I had to step in. It also meant we had to wash all parts after blasting, because we didn’t use ionized air.”

“Another drawback we had with manual cleaning was that the vacuum in the blaster cabinet was very inefficient for reusing powder, especially glass bead material.”

And since you installed the CCP-2, how has our post-processing machine helped you overcome those challenges and improve your workflow?

“Just looking at work hours, it basically does one man’s full day job in less than 1.5 hours. Not only is this a huge saving, we can now also deliver parts one day quicker than before. As our customers are often in a hurry, they were very pleased with this improvement. And without uncertainties in the post-processing, it’s easier for us to commit to stated delivery times.”

“Looking at the parts that come out of the machine, these are much cleaner and more uniform than with manual blasting. I can easily tell which parts have been cleaned manually and which haven’t.”

“As an added bonus, we’ve cut our electricity bill. Before, the blaster compressor was on for days on end. With the CCP-2, we rarely use it for more than 1-2 hours per day.”
